Obituary for M.E. "Bully" Slaughter

M. E. "Bully" Slaughter, 93 of Henderson passed away Sunday, April, 30, 2017 at Methodist Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1923 in Henderson County to Jennings Bryant and Lydia Belle Slaughter.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and he retired from Osborn Brush Factory as a machinist. Bully was a member of the Henderson County Coon Hunters Club for years and was an avid coon hunter. He was known as "Pop" by his grandchildren and the neighborhood children. He was a very generous man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife: Dorothy (Malin) Slaughter (1982), 2ND wife: Helen Louise Slaughter who also passed away on April 30th, 2 brothers: Samuel Slaughter and Clinton Slaughter, 3 sisters: Geraldine Culver, Connie Leslie, and Micky Gorman, grandson Edward Bryant Slaughter, and step daughter Mary Stewart.
He is survived by 3 sons: Steve Slaughter of Port Aransas, TX, Rick Slaughter and companion Evelyn Barr of Hebbardsville, KY and Randy Slaughter of Henderson, KY; 2 daughters: Debby (Lanny) Patterson and Pam (Bill) Crawford both of Henderson, KY; 2 brothers: R.J. (Celeste) Slaughter of CA and Donnie (Judy) Slaughter of Henderson, KY; 2 sisters: Dorothy Springer and Ann Martin both of Henderson, KY; 15 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; step-son Donnie (Darlene)Hunter of Salem, KY; 2 step daughters: Sandy Linzy of Salem, KY and Peggy Penn of Ledbetter, KY; 7 step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Friday May 5, 2017 at 12:00PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Bro. Nathan Whisnat officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday 10:00AM-service time at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Fairmont Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be taken in the form of contributions to Henderson County Humane Society or St. Anthony's Hospice. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Worsham Post #40 Honor Guard.
