Janna L Gatten

Janna L. Gatten, 49, of Henderson passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. Her loving soul and spirit went to rejoice with loved ones who had passed before her. Her colon cancer is what took her physical form, but it did not break her. It made her into such an amazing person who wanted to lead by example. She wanted to show strength and positivity to everyone. Janna was always with a smile and could be heard saying “Life is too short” or “Don’t sweat the small stuff”. Although she was unable to change her own health issues, she still tried to assure others they had a choice for their problems.

Janna was born on May 17, 1973 to Judi and David. She was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church. Officer Janna Gatten was hired onto the Henderson Police Department in August of 1999. During her 20+ year career, she served as Corporal, training officer, defensive driving instructor, Hostage Negotiation Team and was a certified National Citizen’s Academy Coordinator. Janna loved being an officer and was a true example of a public servant.

Those she leaves behind to continue her legacy through positivity are her loving wife, Angie and her fur son, Oli. They are the reason she continued to live a life of happiness. Her grandfather, Hershal Shaffer (Agnes); brother, Jeremy Gatten (Melissa); niece, Jessica Head (Evan), great nieces, Emma and Ruthie Head; two special friends, Wendy Sugg and Abby Black, along with other extended family members; and her brothers and sisters in blue at the Henderson Police Department.

Memorial services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:30 PM and will continue after the memorial service until 5:30 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Janna’s celebration to be divided between 911 Gives Hope, Community Outreach, and the Defending Heroes Project.
