Lavada Townsend, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, under the compassionate care of St. Anthony’s Hospice, surrounded by her devoted family.
Lavada was born in Henderson to the late Derwood and Bernice (Fulcher) Brown. She was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center, where her vibrant spirit and love for others shone brightly. Lavada enjoyed spending her days cooking for loved ones, playing bingo, and cherishing moments at the beach.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Townsend; her children, Sandra Williams and Wendell Payne; and her brothers, Bill Brantley, Walter Brantley, Billy Browne, and Paul Brown.
Lavada leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughters; Susan Oldham (Larry), Maria Bullock (Rick) Julie Capps (Kevin) and Ashley Payne; her sons Paul Payne, Tony Payne (Heather), Larry Townsend, Jason Townsend (Rachel) and William Payne; her sisters: Barbara Gentry (Eugene), Susie Kurtz (Bobby), Judy Summers, Sherry McCormick, Doris Dudley, and Linda Phillips; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Tomblinson Funeral Home, with Brother Jack Ross officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Lavada’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
