Loretta Littrell

November 22, 1929 — December 20, 2022

Ruby Loretta Littrell, 93, of Henderson passed from this life on Tuesday, December 20 at Lucy King Care Center. She was born in Henderson County on November 22, 1929, to the late Roscoe and Beatrice (Green) Grossman. She was retired from working and managing school cafeterias. She was a member of Hyland Baptist Church where she led the meals ministry for many years, was an active part of the women’s missionary union, bus ministry, Sunday school class, and community outreach efforts like backpack ministry with South Heights School and visiting shut-ins regularly.

Loretta was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. A devoted follower of Jesus, she (with her husband) spent her life passionate about serving and loving others well. Whether directed toward family with the unique ability to make every person feel seen, heard, and cared for or serving the least of these or providing a home for any person who needed one, all were birthed from a love for Jesus and a desire to make Him known.

Family was absolutely the highlight of her life. She was their biggest cheerleader and loved spending time with family whether children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Saluda (Reeder) Grossman, husband Clyde “Tubby” Littrell, daughter Donna Gayle Nunn, and son Bruce Wayne Littrell. She is survived by three children: Richard Littrell of Henderson; Michael (Martha) Littrell of Elva, KY; and Becky (Gary) Pool of Wildwood, MO; 1 brother, Tommy (Elaine) Grossman of Mt Washington, KY; 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, as well as 4 great great grandchildren and her 3 “adopted” grandkids, Lindsi, Courtni, and Chloe Powell, who have been instrumental in caring for her and loving her over the past two years.

Her greatest moments were those that brought her entire family together. Christmas was a season that she looked forward to for many reasons and the gathering together of people she loved and cared about was part of the joy of this season. In honor of that, we invite you to join us in wearing something red if you are able to join us in celebrating this amazing woman.

Service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Hyland Baptist Church. Brother Michael Littrell and Pastor Kenny Kidd will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, December 31 beginning at 11 am until the service time at Hyland Baptist Church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, Henderson Christian Community Outreach, and Hyland Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Nunn, Gary Pool, Eric Littrell, Ryan Nunn, Thomas Pool, and Dale Pool.

Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel is handling arrangements.
