It is with heartfelt celebration that we remember A.D. Gilbert, who departed this life on July 26, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 29, 1954, in Hickman, Kentucky, A.D. enriched the lives of those around him with his infectious spirit, love for life, and deep devotion to his family.

A.D. was a proud father to Myra Petrie, Anthony Allen (Nevina), Alex Fendrick, and Cynthia Young. His boundless love extended to his 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. A true family man, he cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren—always offering wisdom, laughter, and love.

An avid music lover and passionate dancer, A.D. also had a gift for working on cars and enjoyed hands-on projects. He dedicated much of his professional life to Tyson, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. A faithful member of Walnut Creek Church, A.D. found peace and fellowship in his spiritual community.

He is survived by his beloved long-time partner of 47 years, Mary Petrie. He also leaves behind several brothers and sisters who will continue to honor his memory and the bond they shared.

A.D. was preceded in death by his parents, Neoplis and Eliza Gilbert; sisters Georgia Mae Gilbert, Lauretta Sanders, and Frances Chrisp; and brothers Bud Johnson and Leon Cobb.

A celebration of A.D.’s life will be held at Tomblinson Funeral Home on August 2, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Rev. David Petrie and Rev. Guy King. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a cause that reflects A.D.’s generous heart.

As we gather to honor A.D. Gilbert, let us remember a man who danced and worked his way through life with joy, love, and God in his heart. His memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.

“Popz, you will truly be loved, missed, and always remembered. I thank you for being my right-hand man, my main man. I love you, Daddy.” —From your "Doll," Myra
