It is with heartfelt celebration that we remember A.D. Gilbert, who departed this life on July 26,2025, at the age of 70. Born on December 29 1954, in Hickman, Ky. A.D. enriched the lives of those around him with his infectious spirit, love for life, and whether near or far, he loved his entire family.
A.D. was a proud father of Myra Petrie, Anthony Allen (Nevina), Cynthia Thomas-Young (Matthew), and Alexander Fendrick including Ladonna Petrie and Yorel Petrie who he loved as his own. His insatiable love extended to his 22+ grandchildren and great- grandchildren who he loved dearly. Regardless how he lived, he was a man of wisdom, advice, and encouragement. Imparting life lessons to those around him and sharing laughter along the way.
His passion for music, James Brown, dancing, and being a jokester, A.D. also had a knack for working on cars, homes, yards, and enjoyed the satisfaction of hands-on projects. He served in the army for a few years and dedicated most of his life as a construction worker. He also worked at Big Rivers, Alcoa, Gibbs, to name a few...A member at Walnut Creek Church where he also played the drums and sang in the choir, A.D. found peace and the love for playing instruments again.
A.D.'s legacy is honored by his beloved longtime partner, Mary Petrie, with whom he shared 47 long years with. He was also survived by his siblings Clarence (ozella) Gilbert, Tonya (Lawrence) Emerson (Clinton, Ky) Joseph Gilbert, Carl (Janice) Gilbert, Jackie (Elizabeth) Gilbert, Sadie Caldwell, Lisa Smith, Charles Johnson, Charlotte Udley (all from Hickman, Ky) Cory (Felisha) Smith (Fulton, Ky), Aaron Sanders (Blovia, Tn) brother- in- law.
Join us in celebrating A.D.'s life at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson on August 2, 2025. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. David Petrie and Rev. Anthony Allen. Flowers and money contributions will be accepted by the family.
As we gather to honor A.D. Gilbert, let us remember a man who danced and worked his way through life with joy, love, and God in his heart. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.

A.D. was preceded in death by his parents Neoplis and Eliza Gilbert, Sisters Georgia Mae Gilbert, Lauretta Sanders, and Frances Chrisp, Brothers Bud Johnson and Leon Cobb.
