Anthony Guinn Allen

November 25, 1949 — May 29, 2012

Anthony G. Allen passed away, at his home on May 29, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on November 25, 1949 to Hylen Charlie and Avanell Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Fitzgerald Allen, and a sister, Judith Hope Allen. Anthony graduated from South Hopkins High School in 1967. He worked as a hairdresser for over 40 years. During those years, Anthony touched generations of families. His talents as a hairdresser, as well as his kind, fun-loving spirit endeared him to so many who will mourn his passing. He leaves behind his life partner and business partner of 33 years, Fred Capitel. Anthony has three surviving brothers, Paul (Pam) Allen, Dwight (Wanda) Allen and Avery Allen, along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a host of friends, clients, and the members of the St. Bartholomew’s Apostolic congregation. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Reid Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, Kentucky. A graveside service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. at Old Salem Church Cemetery in Mortons Gap, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Anthony’s nephews Ryan Allen, Travis Allen, Matt Allen, Nathan Allen, Mark Stone and Larry Hayes. In lieu of flowers, Anthony would love his friends to donate to a favorite charity in his memory.
