Arnold “Coon” Culver, age 85, of Poole, passed away on May 12, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home under the care of family and St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Arnold was born in Geneva, Kentucky, to the late James W. “Chip” Culver and Lucille (Moore) Culver. He dedicated over 20 years of service to Peabody Coal Camp 2 and also worked as a bus driver and custodian for Smith Mills elementary. In addition to his professional life, Arnold was a devoted farmer and took great joy in the art of whittling wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Mary Miles, Agnes Coney, and Thomas Culver; grandson, Little Gary and his step son Patrick King.
Arnold is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Dorothy Culver; his children Sherri Stevenson (Gary), Arnold L. Culver Jr. (Melinda), Dwayne “Gumby” Culver, and Jenny Chapman (Allen); stepchildren David King, Don King, Rebecca Manion (Keith), Paul King, and Brian King; siblings Patricia Norvel, Janice Johnson, James Culver (Barbara), and Glenn Culver (Demetria); along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, and from 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
