Arthur "Buddy" Goatee, 93, of Spottsville, passed away on June 17, 2026, at Lucy Smith King Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Buddy was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army, he enjoyed boxing and carried that competitive spirit throughout his life.
Buddy enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard, collecting coins, and watching wrestling. Although he did not enjoy fishing himself, he often took his wife fishing and would walk the bank while she cast her line. Whenever she caught a fish, Buddy was always there to help take it off the hook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joycelyn "Faye" Goatee; his daughters, Deborah Trent and Shelia Goatee; several siblings; and four grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Charlie Goatee (Debra), Arthur Dale Goatee (Nancy), and Shirley Wilson (Ben); his siblings, William "Billy" Robinson (Peggy) and Louise Powers; his grandchildren, Priscilla, Jeff, Joni, April, Stacia, and Magan; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson with Bro. Tommy Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, where the American Legion Worsham Post #40 Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Albert Sutton, David Wilson, Brice Wilson, Corey Wells, Jackie Koonce, and Lisa Embry. Honorary pallbearer will be Layken Wells.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Harbor Unit and Rehabilitation Unit at Redbanks, as well as the staff of Lucy Smith King Care Center, for their excellent care, compassion, and kindness shown to Buddy and his family.
