Arvel Wayne Dekemper, Jr.

October 23, 1939 — January 5, 2013

Arvel Wayne DeKemper, Jr. 73, Henderson, welcomed the Lord’s loving embrace by fireside at his daughter’s house, Saturday, January, 5, 2013. Born in Henderson, to the late Arvel Wayne DeKemper, Sr. and Martha Lindenberg DeKemper, Wayne proudly served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 561, the American Legion, Moose Lodge 732, and a Kentucky Colonel. He loved the outdoors and was a dedicated UK Wildcat fan. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his sons, Carl Wayne DeKemper, Harry Lee DeKemper, and Christopher Jay DeKemper. He is survived by daughters, Lisa DeKemper Sunkel of Henderson, Paula K. DeKemper of Spottsville; son, Benjamin J. Bentley of Henderson; sisters, Bettye Summers, Gayle Sutton and her husband Jackie, Nancy McKinney; brother, Danny DeKemper and his wife Lyn, all of Henderson; three grandsons, one granddaughter, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, January 9th at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Larry McBride officiating. Burial will be in the St. Louis Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Worsham Post 40. Friends may call from 8:00 AM until 11:30AM Wednesday the 9th at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Pallbearers will be Butch Irons, David Sunkel, Jackie Alan Sutton, Jeffrey Sutton, Brad Summers, Chris DeKemper, Damon DeKemper, and Wes DeKemper. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Legion Worsham Post 40 Burial Detail & Honor Guard or support the brave men and women serving our country in the U.S. Armed Forces.
