Barry Vickers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Vickers, aged 72, on July 31, 2025, in Henderson, Kentucky. Born on July 7, 1953, in Berea, Kentucky, Barry touched the lives of many throughout his journey, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.

Barry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Anita Vickers, with whom he built a life filled with joy and laughter. He was a proud father to Leah Newman and cherished grandfather to Anorah and Jonas Newman. Barry's warmth and kindness will forever be remembered by his family and friends.

With an Associate's Degree and a commitment to hard work, Barry served as a custodian at the University of Kentucky, where he was respected and admired for his diligence and spirit. He also brought joy to many as a barber and cosmetologist, leaving a lasting impact on those who frequented his chair.

An avid lover of bluegrass music, Barry found solace and happiness in the rhythm of the melodies that filled his life. A true fan of Kentucky sports, he passionately followed all University of Kentucky athletics. Additionally, Barry was a dedicated participant in Rock Steady Boxing at Henderson YMCA, where he fostered friendships and embraced an active lifestyle.

As we celebrate his life, visitation will be held on August 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Destiny of Faith Church, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Pastor Jim Turpin and Rev. Sherm Jenne will officiate, honoring Barry's spirit and the many lives he touched.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember Barry Vickers for the love he gave and the joy he brought into this world. May his memory forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege to know him.
