Betty Carter

Betty Carter, 92, of Henderson, passed away on October 16, 2026, at Redbanks Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born in Henderson County to the late Edger Claude and Ella Mae (Thompson) Bugg. She retired from Sani-Clean after many years of dedicated service.

Betty enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working in her yard and riding around on her John Deere tractor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Billy Carter; her son, Danny Carter; and her siblings, Dorothy Purcell, Earl Bugg, and Carl Bugg.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Wanda Carter; her sisters, Barbara Whitledge and Minnie Meredith; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lehman (Steve) and Michelle Hope (Scott); her great-grandchildren, Kelly Battiato (Matthew), Hailee Hope, and Emilee Hope; her great-great-grandson, Carter Battiato; and two great-great-grandchildren on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson, with Brother Chris Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
