Betty Jo (Turley) Fredrick, 85, of Hanson formerly of Madisonville, passed away Friday February 21, 2025 at Redbanks Nursing Home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Betty was born in Slaughters on October 27, 1939 to the late Monroe and Myrtle (Ashby) Turley.
Betty graduated from Madisonville High School in 1957, where she was an active member of the band and chorus, nurturing a lifelong passion for music. This love led her to a fulfilling 21-year career teaching music in the Hopkins County School System. Betty had a zest for travel, exploring the United States and enjoying cruises with her late husband, Lonnie Ray Fredrick. She also discovered a love for golf, spending countless days on the course during their winters in Florida. A talented cook, Betty cherished hosting weekly family gatherings, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved grandsons.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her half-brothers David Turley and Lewis Turley.
Survivors include two children Janet Winstead (Mark) of Hanson, Mark Fredrick (Kellie Jo) of Hanson; three grandsons Joseph Fredrick (Sarah) Alvaton, KY, Ryan Winstead of Louisville, Michael Fredrick (Jessica) Owensboro; two great-grandchildren Maddie Fredrick and Ozzy Fredrick.
Services will be Noon Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Hanson United Methodist Church with Pastor Tami Coleman officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Pallbearers will be Joseph Fredrick, Ryan Winstead, Michael Fredrick, Mark Winstead, Dennis Moore and Russell Fredrick. Honorary “Ornery” pallbearer will be Tom Wagner.
Memorial contribution may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or Slaughters Cemetery Paving Fund.
