Betty J. Riggs

Betty J. Riggs, age 85, of Owensboro, KY , wife of James Riggs, passed away, Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Georgetown , Kentucky . She was born July 26, 1932 in Onton , Kentucky to the late Ernest and Florence Petty Knight.  Betty was a stay at home mother to her four children for many years.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, crafting, camping and being a homemaker. Her and James also enjoyed travelling and had visited all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. Betty was also very active in the Eastern Star for over 60 years, taking pride in the fact that she was a Past Grand Matron of Kentucky. Betty was the true matriarch of her family and she was extremely proud of her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren.  She will be missed by many.   In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, James Barry Riggs, 2 brothers; Johnny Knight and Raymond Knight, 3 sisters; Bessie Gates, Jean Miller and Lilly Scott.  In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Neil (Connie) Riggs of Stamping Ground, Kentucky , Randy (Sharon) Riggs  of Marks, Mississippi , Victoria (John) Davito of Houston, Texas, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitations will be 5pm- 8pm Monday, November 27, 2017 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. 5pm-8pm on Wednesday November 29th and 9am-11am Thursday November 30th both at Tomblinson Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11am Thursday November 30, 2017 at Tomblinson Funeral Home 57 State Route 370 East Sebree , Kentucky 42455 . Pastor Stan Strader will officiate.  Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree.   Pallbearers will be Austin Riggs, James Riggs, Gage Crabtree, Lafe Riggs, Lew Crabtree and Alex Russell.
