Bonnie Lou Alberty, 67, of Henderson passed away Sunday February 12, 2017 at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. She was born in Owensboro on September 21, 1949 to William Morris and Mary Lou (Basham) Smiley. Bonnie retired after 17 years as a dietary cook from Colonial Assisted Living. She became an ordained minister so that she could counsel and marry people. She also enjoyed volunteering at her work to minister, sing and pray before the meals with the residents. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers Jimmy Raney, Beckham Smiley, and 1 granddaughter Chandra Overfield. Survivors include 4 children: Billy Brack and wife Gretchen of Owensboro, Jeff Brack and wife Heather, Glenda Swanner and husband Atom, Angie Brack and husband Ryan all of Henderson, 6 sisters Frankie Bodner and husband Bob of Bardstown, Brin Gilbert of Henderson, Darleene Winsett and husband Larry, Debbie Miller and husband Pat all of Bardstown, Holly Courtney and husband Harold of Henderson, Mary Virginia Stewart and husband Robert of Aurora, Illinois, 1 brother Donald Gary Smiley and wife Shirley of Aurora, Illinois, 2 sister-in-laws Linda Raney of Henderson, Lisa Smiley of Reed, Kentucky, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson. Rev. Josh Mabrey will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8PM and Wednesday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice.
