Brenda Gayle Byrd

Brenda "Gayle" Byrd, 71, of Corydon, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.

Born on July 18, 1953, in Henderson, KY, Gayle was the daughter of the late Russell and Thelma (Gish) Lord. She retired after 18 years of dedicated service from Dana Corporation. Gayle had a love for reading, bird watching, and most of all, spending time with her family. She found immense joy in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her brothers, James Harold Lord, Billy Lord, Tim Lord, and Danny Lord.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Byrd; one sister, Shelia (Danny) Gray; one brother, Eddie Lord; two daughters, Stacy (Scott) McDonald and Kari Shutt; two sons, Travis (Jennifer) Byrd and Matthew Byrd; six grandchildren, Hunter (Kenzi) McDonald, Jenna Byrd, Emma Byrd, Elijah Byrd, Easton Byrd, and Wyatt Shutt; and two great-grandchildren, Nico McDonald and North McDonald.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, 6:00 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home, Henderson Chapel with Bro. Bret Eblen officiating.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Gayle will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, kindness, and spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
