Catherine “Ernestine” Hoover-Seitz 97, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on March 18, 2012. Ernestine was born April 1, 1914 in Henderson. She was the founder along with two business partners of CBS Dress Company here in Henderson. Her career started at the age of 14 in 1928 at the Cotton Mill as a weaver. She later became a seamstress and designer. A fashion icon and one of the first businesswomen in the apparel industry here in Henderson, CBS employed some 150 workers in the late 1960’s. From 1950-1980 she was president CBS Dress Company, which manufactured and distributed first cotton dresses and eventually 5 seasonal lines of women’s clothing under 4 private labels throughout the US. She was a member of Bennett Memorial UMC where for years she taught Sunday school, directed the choir and held various administrative positions. Her dedication to Christ and her family was paramount. Proceeded in death by husband David Edward Seitz; daughter Sue Vada Poston; parent’s Dee & Virgie Hoover, brother’s Malvin and Ray Hoover, granddaughter Cathy Poston and great-grandson Jason Timberlake. Surviving are one daughter, Martha Ann Gibson of Henderson; six grandchildren David Gibson and wife Cathy of Henderson, Jeff Gibson of Winter Springs, Florida, Greg Gibson of Henderson, Jim Poston and wife Tawana of Evansville, IN, Dee Dee Timberlake and husband Lloyd Bowman of Evansville, IN, Teresa Poston-Conner of Evansville, IN; 8 great-grandchildren Kim Pritchett and husband Judd, Amanda Gibson, Kelly Gibson, Jessica Crawford and husband Bill, Nat Gibson and wife Nikki, Candice Poston-Smith and husband Nate, Jeremy Timberlake and Jennifer Sidener; 8 great, great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Her funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:00 am at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with entombment at Fairmont Cemetery. Rev. Mary Wrye and Rev. Will Campbell will officiate. Visitation prior the the funeral service on Tuesday will be from 10: AM until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or Bennett Memorial UMC. Her family wishes to express special thanks to Regina Gregory and the many caregivers at St. Anthony’s Hospice who comforted her final days with loving care and dignity.
