Charles “Bud” Thurby
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Charles “Bud” Thurby of Sebree, KY who left us on May 27, 2024 at the age of 68 surrounded by his loving family. In his final moments, he was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
He retired from Accuride after 45 years.
Bud was a family man always thinking of his wife, children and grandchildren.
He loved to ride horses, play baseball with his son and take his family to the beach.
He was a member of Sebree First Baptist Church.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Thurby, three sisters; Nellie Duncan, Darris Eblen and Sue Cooper and one brother; David Thurby.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sonia Dale Thurby. They have two precious children Tim (Shannon) Thurby and Devon Thurby both of Sebree, KY. Six grandchildren; Christian, Evan and Lillian Thurby, Ian, Conner and Noah Hill. He was blessed with four great grandchildren; Hudson boy, Keaton and Twin Girls, Raylin and Rylann. Sisters; Virginia Gibson of Princeton, IN, Corine Johnson of Henderson, KY, Mary Jenkins of Robards, KY, Judy (Donnie) Cates and Sharon Cates both of Sebree, KY, and Pam (Tommy) Lawless of Hebbardsville, KY. Brothers; Tom (Shirley) Thurby of Dixon, KY, Henry Thurby of Murray, KY, Woody (Mary) Thurby of Fenton, MO, and Gary (Barbara) Thurby of Henderson, KY. Mother in Law, Anita Sue Wiley of Slaughters, KY and many Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday May 30th at Sebree First Baptist Church in Sebree, KY.
Bro Bob Hardison and Kem Knight will officiate.
Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree, KY.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 29th from 4:00 until 8:00 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Sebree, where a dedication of music will be held from 7:30 until 8:00 and on Thursday visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time at Sebree First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be his son Tim Thurby, grandsons, Christian Thurby, Evan Thurby, Ian Hill, Conner Hill, Noah Hill and brother in law, David Wiley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be brothers, Tom Thurby, Henry Thurby, Woody Thurby, Gary Thurby and best friend Kem Knight.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
