Charles Edward King, Sr.

November 7, 1928 — July 14, 2013

On Sunday at 3:30 in the afternoon, with his family around him, Charles King left this world to go to a much better place where there is peace, joy & much celebration at his homecoming! We, who are left behind, will have an empty place in our hearts, but our hope is in Jesus who promises us that we will someday be reunited with our loved one. Charles leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Joyce; two sisters, Carolyn Dutton & Margaret Sutton; one brother. Albert King; a daughter, Marcie Whitman; two sons, Charles King, Jr. & his wife, Connie; and Anthony King & his wife, Paula; 4 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Charlie King was a man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He was a very kind-hearted & gentle man who loved his family and friends. For the last 6 years of his life, he lived at Redbanks Nursing Home without uttering one complaint under the care of his loving wife & a dedicated staff. He encouraged & loved on those who visited & those who cared for him. He made a difference having been here because of his great big heart and unselfish spirit. Having been a truck driver for most of his life, he had many stories to tell about his travels across this beautiful country. He instiled in his children a work ethic of always giving more than is expected, of honesty, commitment to a task being well done, a big heart & a set of values that are being passed to future generations. Charlie King never had his name in the limelight, no parks or buildings were dedicated to him, nor did he have a title for his 84 years on this earth. However, if you ever met him, you always walked away feeling good because of his heart that was always for you and not against you. We will celebrate his life at the Salvation Army on Washington Street. We welcome you to stop by and share your stories about Charlie with his family from 10-12 on Wednesday, July 17th. A Memorial Service will begin @ 12 noon at the church led by Steve Davis. Blessings to all who have befriended our family. We love you. Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences at www.tomblinsonfuneralhome.com
