Charles Henry Ligon, 71, of Henderson, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home.
He was born on October 3, 1952, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late William Bernard and Myrtle Catherine (Todd) Ligon. Mr. Ligon was a retired machinist with Accuride Corporation in Henderson.
Mr. Ligon graduated from Henderson City High School Flash in 1971. Charles was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran, serving in Boeblingen, Germany, in the 5th PsyOp Battalion, from 1971-1974. His love for all things military included a vast knowledge of conflicts across several wars. He was exceptionally gifted in assembling model tanks and model military vehicles. He loved listening to music, especially from his teen and early adult life.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Revas Matt and Annis Burris Todd, paternal grandparents, William Henry and Rosie Ann McGroarty Ligon, host of aunts, uncles, cousins. He was also preceded in death by his best friends: David L. Hill and MIchael L. London.
Mr. Ligon is survived by his loving, faithful wife of 31 years, Julie Marie Ligon of Henderson; two special and well loved “nieces”, Audra London and Amye London of Henderson; fellow Veteran and brother, Rodney Yates of Henderson; uncles, aunts, cousins, cherished friends and a four-legged “nephew,” Brownie.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday June 25, 2024, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm at Tomblinson Funeral Home, Henderson Chapel. Mr. Ligon’s Celebration of Life will be held promptly at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, with full military rites by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.
