Charlotte Sue Rice

Charlotte Sue Rice, 82, of Henderson, passed away on June 4, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Charlotte was born in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late Luster and Wanda (Vangilder) Freeland. She attended Dayspring Church of God of Prophecy and was a former owner and operator of Days Inn.

She enjoyed watching Asian movies, playing bingo, and scratching lottery tickets. Charlotte loved having margaritas with family and friends but especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rice; brothers, Keith Freeland and Steve Freeland; great-grandson, Hudson Martin; and nephew, Josh Freeland.

She is survived by her children, Shelly Rowell, Shane Mays (Zonia), and Susan Townsend; her sisters, Brenda Peckenpaugh and Kathy Cook; grandchildren, Jennifer Fulkerson, Trae Mays, Logan Martin, Baylee Townsend, Sydnie Townsend, Katie Mays, and Jay Mays; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Monday June 9,2025 at 5:30 PM at Dayspring Church of God of Prophecy with her daughter, Susan Townsend, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairmont Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until service time at the church.
