Clarence Alvin West of 1022 Turner Spur Rd., Fancy Gap, Virginia, formerly of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at his daughter's home. Clarence was born in Henderson County to the late Cohen and Anna (McGroarty) West. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Virginia West, his sons, Henry West, Walter Gundrum - foster son, Donald West, John West, and Edward West. Also preceded in death are his siblings: Lois Melton, James Cohen West, Margaret, Evelyn, Verna Mae, Katheryn, Garland, Raymond, and John. Clarence is survived by his daughter Judy Conley and husband John of Fancy Gap, Virginia and son James West of Lebanon, Pennsylvania. His sister Velma Sheets and her husband Buddy of Henderson. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a WWII US Army veteran with the 95th division - 3rd army under Patton, and purple heart recipient. He was employed full-time as a shop foreman for Roman Mosaic and Tile Company, Manheim, Pennsylvania where he retired and owned and operated a dairy farm, Grantville, Pennsylvania where he lived with his wife Virginia whom he met during the war and raised their seven children. When clarence lived in Henderson before moving to Virginia to live with his daughter and her husband, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Henderson. Clarence had a sincere passion for golfing and had four hole-in ones!! He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Fairmont Cemetery with Rev. Mark Moog officiating. American Legion Worsham Post #40 Burial Detail and Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
