Cordelia Ann Brooks

June 1, 1952 — March 19, 2021

Cordelia Ann Brooks, 68, of Henderson, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Henderson on June 1, 1952 to the late John Barney and Lavern (Hobgood) Brooks. She was of the Baptist faith. Cordelia Ann was a friend to all. Anyone who met Ann, loved her. She did not meet a stranger and her wit and welcoming heart always made room for each of us. Ann loved animals so very much and she just had a way with them. She was especially fond of wolves. She was an avid reader and dark chocolate was her favorite. She was almost never without a Coke, whether in bottle or can, and “Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia” ice cream was a freezer staple. She loved coloring and crafting and word find books. Her favorite craft was the plastic canvas cross-stitching, and she was very good at it. She LOVED movies. She loved Animal Planet. She was funny. She had a very quick wit. Ann could be quick tempered too, but she was just as quick to apologize. She didn’t like thinking she had hurt someone. When cancer came; she handled it like a champ. She made lemonade and she fought. She fought with medicine and with laughter and with prayer. She held onto hope. Against odds; Ann had hope. She was thoughtful. Kind. Loving. She always wanted to know how you were doing. She was an all-weather friend. She was happy with you. She was sad with you. She listened and she cared. Your life and world mattered to her. She loved her family. She and her Mom were the best of friends and I am certain that her Mom was the first to welcome Ann home. Ann was blessed with very dear friends who made space in their hearts and family for her, and it was an easy thing for us to do. She will be missed. She was loved. She will be forever in our hearts and thoughts. She is survived by her uncle, Bill Hobgood (Donna McKee) of Big Cabin, OK; aunt, Helen Hobgood; cousins, Patricia Sue Brooks and Randy Hobgood; and very good friends, The McPherson Family. A graveside memorial service will be Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Slaughters. Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson is entrusted with arrangements.
