David Ray Byrum

June 10, 1942 — February 11, 2022

David Ray Byrum, 79, of Boonville, IN, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville. David was born June 10, 1942 to the late Wandel H. and Helen Ranes Byrum. David served in the National Guard. He retired from Peabody Coal Mine in Universal, IN where he worked as a mechanic and was later promoted to shop foreman. David was co-owner of Gerst Bavarian Haus, Sportsman’s Grill and Billiards, and Smitty’s Tavern for many years. He enjoyed restoring vintage automobiles, reading, playing pool and golf, and watching old western reruns. But most of all, David loved his family and his pets. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lee Byrum; children, Lisa Hooe (David), Robin McDaniel, Tim Byrum (Charuwan), and Shawn Byrum (Jill); eight grandchildren; siblings, Sherry Pich (Jack), Michael Byrum (Carol), and Sheila Blanford (Jimmy). Graveside services will be Wednesday, February 16, 2022, 11:00 AM, at Slaughters Cemetery with Bro. Brad Tucker officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Warrick County Humane Society, 5722 South Vann Rd, Newburgh, IN 47630 or the Slaughters Cemetery Fund, 23 Main Cross Street, Slaughters, KY 42456. Tomblinson Funeral Home, Sebree Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
