David Elbert Wallace, a revered husband, father, brother, and friend, will be honored as he peacefully leaves this earth on September 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 20, 1940, in Vincennes, Indiana, David lived a life rich in love, integrity, and dedication.
A proud veteran, David will be remembered for his service in the U.S. Army, where he enlisted on March 30, 1962, and honorably discharged on March 29, 1965, rising to the rank of E5. After his military service, he pursued his passion for engineering, earning his associate degree in engineering from Earlham College and his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. His esteemed career as a mechanical engineer allowed him to make significant contributions to the field and positively impact the lives of colleagues and clients alike. He retired after 35 combined years from Firestone and Accuride. He was also a member of the Tennesee Squire and a Kentucky Colonel.
David's devotion to his family was profound. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandi Wallace, with whom he shared 58 joyful years of marriage. His legacy continues through his devoted son, Brian Wallace, as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his brother, Richard Wallace, and brother-in-law, John Boze.
A faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Henderson Kentucky, David drew strength and solace from his faith and the community around him. His days were often spent engaged in yard work, embarking on home improvement projects, and nurturing his tools, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, embodying the true spirit of generosity and neighborliness.
David will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his deep love for his family and his unwavering kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Edith (Gaylor) Wallace, his beloved daughter, Carrie Lynn, as well as his siblings, Sue Boze and Donald Wallace. He also rejoins in peace his great-great-grandson, Matthew Keach.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Henderson Kentucky on Monday September 8, 2025, at 12:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Janet Carden and Rev. Leslie McKown will officiate the services, celebrating a life devoted to faith, family, and service to others.
As family and friends gather to pay tribute to David Elbert Wallace, they will remember him as a man of dignity, love, and unwavering compassion. His remarkable legacy will forever inspire all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed in the days to come.
