Dolores “Jean” Storey Peckinpaugh, 85, known affectionately by most of her friends and family as Jean or Mimi, passed away on July 16, 2025, in Henderson, Kentucky. She was a resident of Monroe, Georgia.
Jean was born on January 10, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert W. and Elsie L. Storey; her brothers, Robert Storey, Joseph Storey, Paul Storey, Jonathan Storey, and Donald Storey; and her sisters, Elsie (Storey) Taylor and Barbara (Storey) Thomas.
She is survived by her sister, Linda (Storey) Mortimer. Jean is also survived by five children whom she loved unconditionally; Luther Peckinpaugh, Robert Peckinpaugh, Timothy Peckinpaugh, Brian Peckinpaugh (Major Hollingshead), and Robin Peckinpaugh Knight (Kevin Knight). She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 19.
Jean was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. Her love knew no limits—she would do anything she could to help not only her family, but anyone who crossed her path. You never had to question her love or loyalty; it was steady, true, and deeply felt. She had a quiet strength, a gentle spirit, and a sense of humor that could light up a room—her laugh was truly the best. Jean found joy in the simple things in life, the kind of treasures that money can’t buy. She loved deeply, lived faithfully, and left a legacy of warmth and grace. We have no doubt she is now in Heaven with Jesus, exactly where she belongs.
