Don Burris, 86, of Henderson passed away at 9:24 PM Monday June 10, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born on December 23, 1926 in Henderson to Elwood and Bernie (Ashby) Burris. He was a graduate of Louisville Barber College and went on to own and operate Burris Barber Shop for many years. Don was a US Army Veteran and a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple for 58 years. Don was also a member of the VFW Post #541 for 68 years, Henderson Moose Lodge #732 for 34 years, American Legion Worsham Post 40 for 48 years and Corydon Masonic Lodge #799 for 50 years. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife of 37 years Joyce Marie Burris in June of 1984, 1 sister and 7 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Janette Burris 2 Sons: Steve Burris and wife Jan Greg Burris and wife Lori all of Henderson 3 Step-daughters: Fala Hancock of Lynnville, IN Tina Riggs and husband Jimmy of Henderson Trudy Willis and husband David of Sommerville, IN 1 Granddaughter: Courtney Welte and husband Jesse of Henderson 1 Great-grandson: Bracken Welte of Henderson 3 Step-grandchildren 3 Step-great-grandchildren Nieces and Nephews Services will be 2:00 PM Friday June 14, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel. Pastor Ken Gazaway will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson will full military rites conducted by American Legion Worsham Post 40 Burial Detail and Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8PM and Friday 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday by Corydon Masonic Lodge #799. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
