Born on November 23, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana, Don was the son of the late Montford B. Lester and Anna May (Simpson) Lester.
A proud veteran, Don honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of Jerusalem Masonic Lodge No. 9 in Henderson and was a faithful member of both Immanuel Baptist Temple and First Baptist Church in Henderson.
Don dedicated much of his life to serving others. He later served at Moss Funeral Home in Henderson and Boone Funeral Home in Evansville, Indiana. Don retired from the United States Postal Service after serving 25 years as a mail carrier. Along his route, Don became known not only for delivering the mail but also for the friendships he formed and the conversations he shared with those he served.
Gifted with a love for music, Don enjoyed playing both the piano and organ throughout his life. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering work ethic, and the love he shared with his family. His greatest joy came from being a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
