Donald Ray Qualls, 81, of Slaughters, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday March 4, 2017. He was born in Webster County, Kentucky on September 7, 1935 to Albert Douglas and Mary Josephine (Littrell) Qualls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son in 1962 and his first wife Mary Chandler Qualls in 1990. He joined Slaughters Christian Church as a young man and graduated from Slaughters High School in 1953. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he served with the Big Red One, spending much of his time in Europe. He attended Murray State University and came back to Slaughters to teach for a short while, but he spent most of his life working his dream of farming in both Webster and Hopkins County. He is survived by his wife Yevonna Qualls, daughter Penny Ford and significant other Ron Underwood, son Marcus Qualls and fiancé Pam Porter Sellers all of Slaughters, 5 step-children Charles "Chuck" Wilbur Rushing, Jr. and wife JoAnn of Hopkinsville, Star Corum and husband Tim of Earlington, Tami Graves and husband Jerry of Georgetown, Kentucky, Tonya Tompkins and husband Darren of Foley, Alabama, Miria Thomas and husband Danny of Earlington, granddaughter Amanda Qualls, grandson Adam Qualls and wife Ashley all of Slaughters, several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday March 8, 2017 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Bro. Bill Crabtree and Bro. Wesley Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Slaughters Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8PM and Wednesday 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Adam Qualls, David Chandler, Chad Chandler, Kerry Winstead, Brian Hornback, Coy Higdon and Mark Winstead. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Mounts and Larry Townsend.
