Donnia Mayree Matthews

Donnia Mayree Matthews passed away July 26th, 2023. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and her Pastor.

Donnia was born April 25th 1955, one of 6 children born to Oma Martine and Harrison Mofield.

Donnia married the love of her life, Randell Matthews on March 12, 1971 and together they raised two daughters, Effie Rodriguez and Randella Robinson. Donnia was the cornerstone in the foundation of her family. She was a doting grandmother, with an active role in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives.

Donnia went to college after her girls were raised and completed a degree in Early Childhood Education, subsequently spending several years as a substitute teacher for the Henderson County Board of Education. She found great fulfillment in this role and touched many young lives in the process.

Outside of her career, she was an artist, expressing her creativity through crafts, quilting and she was the go-to floral designer for friends and family. Donnia loved thrift shops, flea markets and yard sales like a passion. She was a member of Country View Baptist Church.

Donnia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jessie Mofield as well as beloved In-laws James Matthews, William Matthews, Vernie Matthews, Eugene Matthews, Viola Casey and Charlie Matthews.

She is survived by her husband and daughters, her sons-in-law Jeremy Robinson and Reymundo Rodriguez, her loving sister, Diannia Mofield, and brothers, Harris Mofield, Alvin Mofield and Marvin Mofield, devoted Sisters-in-Law Linda Matthews and Tanya Caldwell Schmitz, as well as Bonus Daughters Jeri Peckenpaugh and Kristina Johnson, grandchildren, Isabel Jorgensen, Reyna Mayree Sandefur, Carlos Solorzano-Johnson, Allena Spurlin, Argelia Solorzano-Johnson, James Randall Alvey Turner, Mateo Rodriguez, and Adriana Solorzano-Johnson and Great Grandchildren Noelle Jorgensen, Riley Jorgensen and Atlas Wayne Sandefur as well as many family members and close friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 29th at 11AM at Countryview Baptist Church, 2067 Gregory Dr. Henderson, KY 42420
