Doris Earl Gibson

Doris E. (D.E.) Gibson, age 96,  of Mason, Ohio, formerly of Henderson, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Dorothy Gibson (nee Givens), son Michael (Celine) Gibson and daughter Lisa (Lonnie) Edwards, grandchildren Erin Gibson, Megan Gibson Durbin, Alexey Gibson, Elizabeth Gibson Melson, Christopher Gibson, Thomas Edwards and Brianna Edwards, Great granddaughters Kelsey Zallo and Amani Melson. He was proceeded in death by his parents Barnett and Ollie Gibson, a brother Vernon Gibson, and his son Stanley (Lena) Gibson. Mr. Gibson was born in Robards in 1921 and served proudly in the Army Air Corp during WWII  as a radio engineer and radar repairman for the 9Th Bomb Group on the island of Tinian. After the Army he served as a police officer in Henderson as well as working for a time at WSON. He moved to Ohio in the mid sixties to work for The Voice of America where he stayed until retirement. He was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles,  and loved music especially bluegrass and big band. Serivces will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday November 11, 2017 at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. Burial will be in Corydon Cemetery in Corydon, KY. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 AM until service time at the funeral home.
