Dorothy Jean Ashley

Dorothy Jean (Forker) Ashley, 90, of Sebree passed away Monday March 17, 2025 at Redbanks Colonial Terrrace.

She was born in Onton, Kentucky on January 24, 1935 to the late Arbury Lee and Nellie Mae (Winstead) Forker.

Dorothy worked as a secretary for Warren insurance for over 40 years. She attended Sebree General Baptist Church as well as “Ruth’s Sunday School Class” at Sebree First Baptist Church. Actively involved in the Sebree Alumni Association for Sebree High School, she also had a passion for playing cards and was a devoted UK fan. Above all, she cherished time with her family and took great joy in preparing her weekly Sunday dinners.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Fister and three brothers Robert M. “Dopey” Forker, Jim Forker and Joe Forker.

She is survived by two daughters Libby Ashley, Tina Powell (Jimmy) all of Sebree; son-in-law Bill Fister of Sebree; David Bumpus (Cindy) of Slaughters, whom she considered her adopted son; one brother Maurice Forker (Karen); one sister Judy Gates (Greg) all of Sebree; four grandchildren Jama Davenport (Monte) of Sebree, Jessica Fister (Ryan Lovan) of Niagara, Marcus Powell of Nashville, TN, Amanda Powell Davis (Jeremy) of Simpsonville, KY; nine great-grandchildren Ryan Davenport, Reid Davenport, Nicholas Kennett, Sophie Kennett, Matthew Davenport, Anna Leigh Davis, Marsh Powell, Shepard Powell, Nellie James Davis; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday March 21, 2025 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Bro. David Bumpus officiating.

Burial will follow in Springdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Powell, Jeremy Davis, Monte Davenport, Deon Forker, Ryan Lovan, Nicholas Kennett, Ryan Davenport and Reid Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Davenport, Marsh Powell and Shepard Powell.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice or Sebree General Baptist Building Fund.
