Dorothy Fay Hale

On January 14th at 1:05 PM Dorothy Fay (Rakestraw) Hale went to Heaven to be with the Lord and loved ones. While our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing she is now at peace.

Born September 8, 1940, to Marvin A. Rakestraw and Helen E. (Woods) Rakestraw. She was born alongside her beloved twin brother, Donald.

Dorothy grew up on the family farm in Slaughters, Kentucky, with her eight siblings. She attended school in Slaughters and made friends easily, although she was naturally shy. She remained friends with her classmates throughout her life.

Dorothy married Wayne Hale in 1959 in Shawneetown, IL and together they built a family filled with love. She became a proud mother to Kathy Dawn Hale (born 1960), Barry Wayne Hale (born 1963), and Tommy Allen Hale (born 1965). Dorothy loved being Mom and Grandma, and her family meant everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Wayne Hale, twin brother Donald and her siblings Joyce, Christine, Bobby and Jerry.

In addition to her 3 children she is survived by two brothers; Eugene “Big Boy” Rakestraw of York, PA, Merle Rakestraw of Madisonville, KY. Sister; Reva (Paul) McConnell of Madisonville, KY, 2 grandchildren; Whitney Beals of Henderson, KY and Elizabeth (Rex) Minton of Henderson, KY, 4 great grandchildren; Tyler (Anna) Beals, Jaycie Beals, Avery Minton and Kaisley Beals.

Dorothy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her and loved her. Until we meet again, we will hold her memory close and trust God’s promise of eternal life.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel in Sebree, Kentucky.

Reverend Jeff Hesley will officiate.

Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Slaughters.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mt Pleasant Cemetery fund.
