Dorothy Ann (Bridges) Powell

Dorothy Ann (Bridges) Powell, 89, of Little Dixie, passed away Friday November 25, 2022 at 7:43 AM at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

She was born in Cadiz, Kentucky on July 10, 1933 to the late Earl Wills and Madge Marie (Robertson) Bridges.

Dorothy was a member of Community Baptist Church in Henderson. She sang in the choir at both Community Baptist and IBT and taught Sunday School at IBT. She started her career as a payroll clerk for the Henderson Municipal Light Plant where she honed her skills as a meticulous bookkeeper, then continued her career path as a homemaker, bookkeeper and farmer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years John William Powell, two sisters Marie Howard Royster, Carol Bridges, three brothers Earl Bridges, Jr., James Bridges and William “Bill” Bridges.

Survivors include: five children Joy Hope (Tim) of Granbury, Texas, Chanda Pfingston (Dwayne) of Little Dixie, Darrell Powell (Tami) of Little Dixie, Ronald Powell (Gaye) of Little Dixie, Enda Powell of Lexington, Kentucky; two brothers Jerry Bridges (Sally Turner) of Vienna, Virginia, Ralph Bridges (Faye) of Henderson; one sister Mary Cheaney (Lewis) of Hebbardsville; eight grandchildren Matthew Hope, Mark Hope, Melissa Hope, John Pfingston, Morgan Powell, Mycah Powell, Sarah Pfingston and Victoria Brown; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with Dr. Tim Hobbs and Rev. Mary Wrye officiating.

Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday and Tuesday 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Critser, Larry Chambers, Tony Givens, Alex Durand, Mason Brown, Tim Hope, Dwayne Pfingston and Cory Bridges.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Charlotte Edwards, Brooke Stone, Ashley Critser, Megan Buckman and Lisa Sutton for providing exceptional care for the Powell Family.
