Dorthey Lou "Dottie" Sugg

Dorthey Lou “Dottie” Sugg, 65, of Henderson, KY formerly of Evansville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.  Born May 17, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Howard Powell Sr. and Juanita Powell.   She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Michael K. Sugg; two daughters, Julie Reitz (Steve), Shelly Hanganu (Virgil); two sons, John Sugg, Ricky Sugg; three brothers, Herschel Bowlds (Sandy), David “Brett” Powell (Debi), Larry Powell (Patti); two sisters, Amber Stuart, Sonny Baker (Darwin); nine grandchildren, Jordan Tramill (Meredith), Madison Tramill (Madelynne), Kasside Tramill, Jocelyn Sugg, Solomon Sugg, Caleb Butler, Wil Butler, Jarrod Butler, Andrew Hanganu; three great grandchildren, Cutler Tramill, Sawyer Bolin and Mia Butler. Dorthey was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy Bowlds, Howard Powell Jr. and Charles Powell; two sisters, Lois Garrison and Brenda Barnett. Dorthey was a valiant fighter against kidney disease, yet even throughout her struggle she reached out to others by giving of herself endlessly.  During her life she was a foster parent, CASA volunteer, worked in the Henderson County School System Family Resource Center and was the Director of Henderson Christian Community Outreach for 12 years until her retirement in 2011.  Despite all of this, she also managed to earn her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Brescia University at the age of 55.  Dorthey was a charter member of Community Baptist Church, where she was very active.  She was a true reflection of God’s love through her tireless efforts to make this world a better place. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, 12:00PM at Community Baptist Church in Henderson with Dr. Tim Hobbs officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2018, 4-8 PM at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson and Saturday 10:00AM-12:00 PM at Community Baptist Church.
