Douglas Ray Lynn

Douglas Ray Lynn, 85, of Sebree, KY, went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, December 10th, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, IN. Doug was born on April 16th, 1935 in Hopkins County to the late Claude Carvel and Floella Mae Franklin Lynn.  When he was 5 years old, his mother passed away unexpectedly.  Then, as a young teen, he lost his father to a coal mining accident.  Thereafter, he was raised by his stepmother.  Douglas graduated from Charleston High School in 1953.  After high school, he began working at Standard Oil Filling Station and then later worked in the coal mines.  One month after marrying the love of his life on August 10th, 1957, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Germany from 1957-1959. During his early years Doug was ordained as a deacon at Charleston Baptist Church.  He later served as a deacon, treasurer, and trustee at Livermore Baptist Church.  In 1978, he moved with his family to Sebree. Doug retired from Kentucky Utilites after 38 years of employment.   He was a faithful and active member of Sebree First Baptist Church for over 42 years where he served as a deacon, trustee, church van driver, and volunteer.  He loved his church and his church family and dedicated most of his life to serving others.  Doug also volunteered with many organizations during his lifetime including Gideons International, Sebree Chamber of Commerce, Macedonian Builders, and Disaster Relief.  He founded the Sebree Firecracker Run in 1980 and continued to organize it with his family for 40 years.  Doug loved the Kentucky Wildcats, tinkering with old cars, fixing anything and everything, working in the yard, and collecting.  He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepmother, Katherine Lynn Stiles, brother, Carvel Lynn and stepsister, Lisa Stiles Wallace. Douglas is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Clayton Lynn.  He is also survived by his 2 sons, Steve Lynn and David Lynn and his wife Lori, and 1 daughter Stephanie Todd.  Grandchildren include Chelsey Wright and her husband Matthew, Shelby Conrad and her husband Brendan, Aaron Lynn and his wife Gloria, Mallory Todd and her boyfriend Calynn, Emily Todd and her boyfriend Levi, John Lynn, Riley Lynn, Houston Lynn, Hayden Lynn, and Macie Lynn. Great Grandchildren include Hudson Wright, Madilynn Wright, Molly Conrad, and Carter Suttle.  He is also survived by his 2 brothers Norman Lynn and his wife Lomelda and Larry Lynn and his wife Susan along with many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be at 1P.M. on Wednesday, December 16th at Sebree First Baptist Church.  Bro. Bob Hardison, Bro. Dylan Zahn, and Bro. Larry Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 15th from 4P.M. to 8P.M. at Sebree First Baptist Church and on Wednesday from 11A.M. to 1P.M at the church.  Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Steve Lynn, David Lynn, Matthew Wright, Brendan Conrad, Aaron Lynn, John Lynn, Riley Lynn, and Houston Lynn.  Honorary pallbearers will be Hayden Lynn and Hudson Wright. Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel is handling arrangements.
