Russ was a practicing physician for 40 years, serving the Henderson community for almost 20 of those years as an emergency room physician at Community Methodist Hospital (now Deaconess). He was an Army veteran having reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Russ was a loving family man, avid reader, adventurous traveler, hiker, numismatist and trusted friend of many. He was active at Henderson’s First Baptist Church where he served over 45 years teaching adult Sunday School classes and was recently honored as deacon emeritus. He enjoyed participating in Green Valley Association ministries as well. He especially relished the opportunity to go on mission trips across the world with his beloved wife Judy. Together they served on multiple medical mission teams to Russia, Tanzania and Brazil. He was devoted to his community. He helped establish a free medical clinic and a clothing/household ministry that developed into The Answer Center. An enthusiastic numismatist, Russ was a member of the Evansville Coin Club.
