Edward Joseph Heltsley age 90 of Earlington, KY passed away at 7:00 p.m. Thursday 08-11-11 at his home. He was born November 26, 1920 in White Plains, KY to William R. and Nola Tennessee Ruddell Heltsley. He was a coal miner and last worked for Caney Creek Coal Company in Muhlenberg County. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II in the Atlantic. He was a member of the American Legion in Earlington, the E.W. Turner Masonic Lodge #548 and the UMWA. In addition to his parents he; was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Gladys Byrum Heltsley of Earlington, KY, one daughter Sue Fraser of Hagerhill, KY, one son John Heltsley and his wife Randa of Nebo, KY, two sisters Carmon Bishop of Madisonville, KY, Betty Groves of White Plains, KY, one grandson Derek Fraser and his wife Elizabeth of Green Grove Springs, FL and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY with Rev. Marty Martinez officiating. His burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington, KY. There will be a Masonic rite by the E.W. Turner Lodge #548 and a military service by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. His visitation will Sunday 08-14-11 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Reid-Walters Funeral Home and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time.
