Ellen Bingemer, 85, of Cairo, passed away Sunday December 27, 2020 at 4:51 PM at her home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. She was born in Louisville on December 5, 1935 to the late C.J. and Juanita (Ford) Hyde. Ellen was a homemaker and farmer. She made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at age 9 and was baptized by immersion at 23rd and Broadway Baptist Church. Ellen was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church where she taught Busy Bee Sunday School class for 7 years, worked on VBS, was a choir member and member of the Bereavement Committee. Ellen was a charter Member of Women’s Auxiliary of the Cairo Fire Department where she served as a secretary for 11 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Charles “Charlie” Denton Bingemer and 1 sister Annette Gibbs. Survivors include 5 children; Debra Fewell (Steve) of Huntsville, AL, Kathy Duncan (Bill) of Cairo, Sherry Hedgespeth (Wayne) of Greensburg, KY, Bill Anderson (Angie) of Cairo, Lynda Willett of Henderson; 1 sister Betty Pletcher, 1 brother James “Buddy” Hyde (Louise) all of Louisville, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be private with Pastor John Choi officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Fewell, Will Duncan, Charles Hedgespeth, Jake Hedgespeth, Brent Anderson, Brian Hatley and Thadis Willett. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
