Elmer Calvin (E. C.) Chandler, age 89, died at his home in Robards, KY on December 3, 2023 with his wife of 70 years, Kathryn, by his side and surrounded by loving family.
E. C. was born on May 16, 1934, in Webster County to Don and Ella Chandler and was the youngest of eight children. E.C. graduated from Niagara High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He continued to enjoy sports as he watched his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play. He especially liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky basketball.
E.C. was a farmer and made sure he taught all of his children how to work in the tobacco field. He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 37 years. After retiring, he drove a truck for several local farmers. He also worked for the Crop Production Company.
E.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Ella Chandler, brothers Starlin, Eugene, Ralph, Eldon and John Chandler, sisters Hazel Endicott and Louise Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, and his four children: Pam Newman (Charlie) of Okeechobee, Florida, Patty Sellers (David,) Bruce Chandler (Sherry), and Sherry Chandler (Greg), all of Robards, KY. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brad (Tara), Matt (Malia), Neil (Liz), Sarah (Brandon), B.J. (Holly), Brock (Stacy), and Keri (Jerry); Nineteen great grandchildren are also surviving and will miss Papaw!
E. C. was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Madisonville Scottish Rite. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Robards Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Tomlinson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a Masonic Service at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00p.m. with private burial at a later date.
