Emily Sue Newman

Emily Sue Newman, 46, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2023, while surrounded by her loved ones.

Emily always loved immensely; you could feel the way she lit up a room upon entering. When she was younger, her love was being in the water.   Any opportunity she had, Emily could be found swimming either on her own or with the high school Swim Team. As she grew older, Emily’s favorite title was that of Nene (grandmother).  She loved her seven grandchildren and it was seen by all that they were her pride and joy.  Emily was the type of person that was the first to offer help when someone needed it, no matter the time of day or night.

Emily was a member of Advance Baptist Church in Baskett, Kentucky.

Emily was preceded in death by her mother, Glenda Trodglen, and grandmothers, Edith Gibson and Betty Newman.

She is survived by her children Ashton (Brian) Hobgood, Brent Benson, and Courtney (Levi) Wells, father Stanley Newman, siblings Chris and Kristina Newman, aunt Vickie Druin, grandchildren Ross, Owen, Kentlee, Edith, Zayn, Ryder, and Brailyn, companion Ty Weathers, and countless friends that she considered family.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, November 28 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating.   A graveside memorial with Bro. Ellis Payne will immediately follow in Baskett Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, November 27 3:00pm – 8:00pm and Tuesday, 9:00am until the start of service.

Pallbearers are Ethan Rauch, Isaac Rauch, Brian Hobgood, Levi Ditmore, Andy Druin, Tyler King, and Chris Newman (honorary).
