Everett LaVern Carver passed away Wednesday, May 20, at Homeplace Memory Care of Henderson, Kentucky, with his son and daughter-in-law at his side.
Everett (Vern) was born May 12, 1932, to Roy and Zona Carver. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey, and his wife of 60 years, Patsy.
Vern was a Korean War veteran. He barbered, worked at Texas Gas, served as mayor of Slaughters, Kentucky, and was active in his church.
Most of all, Everett loved his Lord God and his family.
He is survived by his son, Terry (Jean) Carver; five grandchildren, Beth (Andy) Freeze, Thomas (Nikki) Carver, Meg (Tom) Lancaster, Mark (Hannah) Carver, and Jo (DeVaughn) Crawford. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Micah, Maura, Declan, Rose, Kate, Eliza, June, Everett, Lena, Lyanna, Addilyn, and Ian.
He is also survived by his sister, Nevelyn Zachary; brother, Dewey (Freda) Carver; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jean Willis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at Slaughters Baptist Church with Bro. Len Young officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Onton Cemetery with military honors.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Homeplace of Henderson, and St. Anthony's Hospice for their compassionate care of Everett.
