Fon Carter, Jr. 82, of Hanson passed away at 3:00 PM Monday September 10, 2012 at his son’s home in Vandetta, KY. He was born October 27 , 1929 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to the late Fon Carter, Sr. and Geneva Carter. He was a retired drill operator for Island Creek Coal Fies Mines 9 & 11, an avid UK fan, a Korean War Army Veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 6 of Madisoville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis Earl Carter, 1 brother Willsie B. Carter, and 1 sister Dorothy Sapp. He is survived by 2 sons: Herschel Glen and his wife Martha Carter of Vandetta, KY Michael Wayne Carter of Madisonville, KY 4 sisters: Joyce and her husband Mackey Henry of Owensboro, KY Mary Alice Stewart of Cadiz, KY Mildred and her husband Dave Beck of Owensboro, KY Helen Lamb of Madisonville, KY 2 brothers: David Carter of Manitou, KY Charles and his wife Martha Carter of Manitou, KY 6 grandchildren: Jordan Carter, Rebecca Carter-Werum, Dustin Carter, Patrick (Ryan) Carter, Lance Carter, Lauren Carter 2 step-grandchildren: Jeff Burton, Jessica Smith 2 great-grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild Services will be 11:00 AM Friday September 14, 2012 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Slaughters-Hanson Chapel with Bro. Douglas Grant officiating. Burial will be in Hanson City Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday September 13 and 9:00-11:00 AM Friday September 14 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roger Henry, Larry Lamb, Tony Lamb, Dustin Carter, Lance Carter, and Ryan Carter. Memorial contributions may be made to Green River Hospice.
