Frances Dunville Horner, 100, Sebree, died Monday, March 7, 2016, at Redbanks Colonial Terrace. Born on a farm near Onton, she attended high school in Slaughters, where she played on the basketball team. In 1936 she married James Horner and spent the rest of her life in Sebree. After James and Frances married they both worked at the Horner Grocery in Sebree. During World War II they sold the store and James went to work for the LN Railroad in Evansville. Frances then worked as secretary for Stull Brothers, Inc. in Sebree for 30 years. After Stulls sold to RingAround, she worked at Old National Bank in Henderson until her retirement. She joined the First Baptist Church of Sebree when she married in 1936, and she was devoted to the church throughout her life. She taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Sebree for 79 years, where she also served as secretary and treasurer for 25 years. She was an award-winning quilter and long-time member of the Onton United Methodist Quilters. Miss Frances was known for her good humor and fun-loving personality. We thought Frances would live forever, thanks to her independent will, strong character, and good humor. And she did live independently for almost a century. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, and devotion to her family and church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Horner; her parents, Gus and Zuma Dunville; her brother, R.L. Dunville; and her nephew Ricky Dunville. Survivors include her sister, Marjorie (Tootsie) Stull, San Antonio, Texas; a niece, Betty Simson, Lexington; three nephews, Jerry Dunville, Slaughters; Don Stull, Lawrence, Kansas; and Larry Stull, Fredericksburg, Texas; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; three great-great nieces; four great-great nephews; as well as many loving cousins and friends.
