Fred D Lauver

Fred D. Lauver, 86, of Henderson, KY, passed into eternal life to meet his Lord and Savior on November 30, 2022. He was the oldest son of the late Samuel S. and Myrtha (VanOmer) Lauver. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dorothy B. Lauver; brother J. Richard Lauver and wife Marlene of Pittsburgh, PA; sons Douglas B. Lauver of Omaha, NE and Dane A. Lauver and wife Lori of Mechanicsburg, PA; step son William Bridwell and wife Tracy of Henderson, KY; step daughters Robin (Bridwell) Newton and husband Rodney, and Cheryl (Bridwell) Zehner and husband David all of Henderson, KY.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Patsy M. (Lauver) Heimbaugh of Harrisburg, PA and daughter, Denise E. (Lauver) Seifert of Dillsburg, PA. Fred sadly missed his only Daughter, taken at the age of only 52. Fred had 11 grand and step grandchildren and 12 great and step great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Fred was a 1953 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown, PA where he earned his Keystone Farmer Degree. He started his career as a part-time farmer and as a carpenter trained by his Uncle Jay Lauver, a master craftsman, and later became a butcher in his father’s grocery store in Millerstown PA. In 1963 he started a 31 year career in the ag fertilizer business with Agrico Chemical Co. in PA and New Orleans LA, and Helena Chemical Co. in Memphis TN. He was a long time member of the Penn State Lime and Fertilizer Conference. When he retired, he and his wife moved to Dorothy’s hometown of Henderson KY where he worked for the Henderson Co. Conservation District for over 10 years. He was a generous donor and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Henderson for 18 years. At Habitat he used his carpentry skills to supervise the construction of Habitat homes and yard barns and served for four years on Henderson Habitat's Board of Directors. During retirement he enjoyed gardening and working in his home woodshop where he hand-crafted 17 grandfather clocks. In his earlier years he was a member of the Lions Club and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

He was a life-long member of Emmanuels Lutheran Church in Thompsontown, PA and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Evansville, IN until his health would not permit. He was also a member of the Henderson Trinity Lutheran Church Tuesday noon Bible Class for many years. Fred faithfully read the publication Daily Bread since 1971 and tried to live his life according to Scripture.

A celebration of his life will be held at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson KY on Saturday December 17, 2022, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until service time. A celebration will also be planned at Brown’s Funeral Home in McAllisterville, PA, at a later date.

The family asks that all celebrations be full of grace, mercy, joy and thanksgiving as that is how Fred lived his life. ln lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
