Gerald "Jerry" Ray Brooks

January 2, 1944 — September 19, 2019

Gerald Ray “Jerry” Brooks, 75, of Henderson, KY, passed away of natural causes on September 19th at his residence. Jerry was the son of Jess and Ann Brooks and grew up in Elkton, KY.  He spent the rest of his life in Henderson, KY.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman which he learned from his father.  He was a certified machinist and spent most of his career with Royster’s Machine Shop in Henderson as their Tool Room Supervisor. Jerry is survived by a daughter, Shannon Brooks Hartz (Brent) and two grandchildren, Brooks Hartz and Ashley Hartz.  His surviving siblings are Ann Mudge of Louisville, KY and Nancy Blake of Hopkinsville, KY.  He leaves two nieces and one nephew. As requested by Jerry, there will be no service and no flowers; however, there will be a celebration of his life at a later date. For those who knew Jerry, you know that he always stood with the underdog, always helping those down in their luck.  He cooked and fed; he cut grass; he was a caregiver; he grew vegetables mainly to give away.  He loved hard and literally gave himself away.  So, if you want to do something in Jerry’s memory, please pay it forward to someone else who needs help.  This is what he would want.
