Glenn Thompson, 88, of Henderson, passed away peacefully at his home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice on August 31, 2024
Born in Henderson to the late James and Bessie Thompson, Glenn devoted an extraordinary 70 years of his life to the racetrack industry, most notably as the track superintendent at Ellis Park. His dedication and innovative approach to track-surface maintenance significantly impacted the world of horse racing, garnering deep respect and admiration from colleagues and peers alike. Glenn's passion extended beyond his professional life to include ownership of racehorses, further cementing his legacy in the sport he loved.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Thompson, and his brother, Dalton Thompson. Glenn is survived by his son, Clifton Thompson and Rhonda Thompson; his siblings, Billy Thompson and Shelia Echols; his grandchildren, Garrett Thompson and Delaney Thompson; and his significant other, Tracey Keller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson, with Chaplain John Brumfiel officiating. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
