Gregory Eugene Courtney

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Eugene Courtney, 62, of Henderson, KY. A cherished father, son, grandfather, brother & friend.

For 28 years, he was known as the best bucket man at Poor Boy Tree Services in Henderson, KY, with many adventures & hobbies along the way.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Laughary & step-father Danny Laughary; daughters, Cassandra Calvert (Chris Calvert) & Angel Courtney; sons, Dan Soderlund (Jennifer Soderlund) & Nathan Gates; 8 wonderful grandchildren, Eric Soderlund, Elain Soderlund, Devon Rigdon, Xavier Calvert, Ellis Hill, Lucas Hill, Jamison Soderlund, & Zaylee Calvert; sister, Penny LaPradd, Tammy Martin (Jimmy Martin); brother, Danny Laughary II. In addition, lots of nephews, nieces, and many others who deeply loved him.

Preceded in death by his father, Donald Courtney; brothers, Roger Courtney, Jeff Courtney, Jeremy Courtney, & Daniel Green.

Greg will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his witty comments, big heart, ability to make even a stranger smile, and his will to always lend a helping hand. 

Please join us in a Celebration of Life that will be held at Warehouse of Worship, 652 Short 7th Street, Henderson, KY. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m & Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Service Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. with a dinner to follow at Warehouse of Worship. Pastor Deacon Lingerfelt will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Warehouse of Worship on Wednesday, January 21st, starting at 2:00 p.m.
