Harold “Butch” Irons, 65, of Spottsville, KY, entered the arms of Jesus May 25, 2021 at Lucy Smith King Care Center. A true warrior, Butch courageously battled Pancreatic Cancer for 19 months until his body could take no more. Born into a military family in Yuma, Arizona, Butch traveled extensively before settling down with his life partner, Paula. Butch was a member of Jerusalem Masonic Lodge #9, Roofers Local 106 and served in the U.S. Army At the time of his illness, he was happily employed at Columbia Sportswear Distribution Center where he made numerous, treasured friends. Butch was a prankster who loved all sports, his fur babies, and the Cooking Channel. Butch was preceded in death by parents Joycelyn and Joseph Harper.Survivors include his life partner, Paula K. DeKemper; father, Hank Irons of Indianapolis, IN; 4 sisters: Kay Spencer of Yuma, AZ; Paula Burrage of Texacali, AR; Cheryl Revels of Austin, TX; Leda Irons of Indianapolis, IN; 2 brothers: Scott Irons and Stephen Irons both of Indianapolis, IN, 2 extended family members: Elizabeth Hugo and Lisa Sunkel of Henderson, KY. There will be no services. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to New Hope Animal Rescue or any local rescue facility.
