Harold Gene Melton

Harold Gene Melton, 89, of Onton, passed away Wednesday March 16, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center. He was born in Hopkins County on January 16, 1933 to the late David Herman and Agnes Elizabeth (Nance) Melton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Mahlon Melton, Herman Melton, Ralph Melton; 4 sisters Frances Nix, Norma Carver, Elizabeth Melton, Marlene Melton; great-granddaughter Emmalyn Clark. Harold was a member of Onton United Methodist Church. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Harold worked for Chrysler in Evansville, then he became a radio and TV tech before going on to work as a lifelong farmer. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Sue Melton; 2 sons Darryl Melton and wife Julie, Garrick Melton and wife Bonnie all of Onton; 5 grandchildren Hannah Clark (Jesse), Heather Ortt (Cody), Jacob Melton (Brandi), Brannan Melton, Madison Melton; 3 great-grandchildren Addalyn Clark, Evelyn Clark, Ella Melton; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday March 19, 2022 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Highland and Bro. Marty Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Onton Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hopkins County Honor Guard. Visitation will be Friday 4-8PM and Saturday 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jacob Melton, Brannan Melton, Madison Melton, Jesse Clark, Cody Ortt and Brian Myrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Carver, Craig Gibson and Chase Fulcher.
