Harold Eugene O'Dell

Harold E. O’Dell, 80, of Henderson, formerly of Battle Ground, IN, left this world and Peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven Sunday, December 28, 2014. He was born April 26, 1934, in McCleansboro, IL to the late Floyd O’Dell and Iva O’Dell (Sutton). Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army and Naval Reserves. He retired after 42 years of dedicated service to Amoco Oil/BP Oil & Gas as a mechanic/maintenance man. Most recently Harold attended Sassafras Grove Church in Sebree, KY. Throughout his life, Harold was involved with many charitable organizations and was most proud of his participation with Habitat for Humanity’s Thursday’s Crew. He was known as much for making people laugh as he was for his devotion in helping others. He loved his family and friends, NASCAR, fishing, sports, and pulling coins out of children’s ears, and they loved him for it. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Gemsie Sutton, Harold was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Sharon Qualls O’Dell. Survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Nancy Sue; daughter, Kathy (Joe) Gaafar of Indianapolis, IN; son, Keith (Shelly) O’Dell of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Kimberly (Shane) Grimes of Mt. Vernon, IN, Joshua (Megan) Gaafar of Lisle, IL; Katie O’Dell, Annie O’Dell of Fishers, IN; great grandchildren, Aubrey Grimes, Allyson Grimes, and newborn Brooks Gaafar. Also survived by stepchildren, Mike (Mary) Virgin and Beverly (Joe) Klima; step grandchildren, Carla (Grant) Glackman, Carl (Katie) Virgin, Jamie (Brandon) Morgan, Mandy (Chris) Daum, and Jesse (Mallory) Virgin, and twelve step great grandchildren. Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be announced later. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Habitat for Humanity, 325 South Green Street, Henderson, KY.
